Reconnecting Spotlight After a Salesforce Sandbox Refresh
Last updated: September 2, 2026
After a Salesforce Sandbox refresh, Spotlight components may no longer appear (e.g., on Opportunity pages) even if the correct permission sets are assigned. This is expected behavior caused by several configuration changes that occur during a Sandbox refresh.
Why Does This Happen?
A Sandbox refresh affects the Spotlight integration in the following ways:
The refreshed Sandbox receives a new Organization ID, which no longer matches the previously registered connection.
The refresh copies the Spotlight Client Secret from production, overwriting the previous Sandbox Client Secret.
The Spotlight Connector Settings (found in Salesforce under Setup → Custom Settings) has a Server Environment property that should be set to
stagefor a Sandbox, but gets overwritten withproductionduring the refresh.
How to Resolve
Because the Sandbox reconnection involves resetting credentials and environment configuration, you will need to contact Spotlight Support to assist with reconnecting your Sandbox environment after a refresh. Please reach out to our team so we can coordinate the following steps:
Register the new Sandbox Organization ID with Spotlight.
Restore the correct Sandbox Client Secret.
Update the Server Environment value in Spotlight Connector Settings back to
stage.
Tip: If you know a Sandbox refresh is planned, consider reaching out to Spotlight Support in advance so the reconnection can be completed as quickly as possible afterward.
